The Ministry of Agriculture is exploring the possibility of expanding Sea moss Production in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Portfolio Minister, Saboto Caesar said he held discussions with a Consultant on ways to develop the sea moss sector locally.

Speaking on NBC Radio, Minister Caesar said, "There is a possibility that we can produce more sea moss in the country if we add the leeward side of the country for its production." He also noted that "ninety-nine percent (99%) of the sea moss currently produced comes from the Northern and Southern Grenadines, with a greater percentage from the Southern Grenadines."

The minister also mentioned that the expert is from a neighboring island and should be here next week to conduct a survey on what can be done in the constituencies, namely East Kingstown, Central Kingstown, South Leeward, Central Leeward, and North Leeward, pertaining to sea moss production.

Minister Caesar stated that the aim is to increase the capacity of sea moss farmers in specific areas on mainland Saint Vincent.
