A Senior Fisheries Officer is encouraging Vincentians to take up jobs in fisheries industry.
Senior Fisheries Officer Ferrique Shotte, in an interview with NBC News says that students should be encouraged from the school level to take up fishing as potential source of income.
"Get involve in fishing itself, we have more waters surrounding us than we have land space. Yes, the investment is significant in purchasing a vessel, but it will pay off, I am of firm belief that school should start nurturing the youths. Teach fisheries economics, teach the youth about the cost for a boat, the cost to rig the boat for fishing, the cost for food, the cost for fuel, the cost for your bait and the cost for everything like that".
