One of the ways this country can reduce its food import bill, is to look at alternative sources of protein.
So says National Correspondent with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO), Dr. Colleen Phillips. According to Phillips, alternative proteins can feed more people with fewer resources.
"Protein is always an issue, you know we spend a lot of money on chicken and one (1) of the ways we could reduce our food import bill is to look at other alternatives of protein. The truth be told you have rabbit a lot of people don't like to consume rabbit, I know that people think that they are cute and cuddly, but rabbit stamped over seventy percent (70%) of protein on them, so when you eat that meat an easy food it's an easy animal to grow in your backyard and then it makes a perfect meal in that its healthy".
