The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines wishes to notify the public of the implementation of the CARCIP National Broadband Project. The project is being implemented through a Public Private Partnership with Digicel (OECS) Ltd and Digicel(St. Vincent)Ltd; and funded by the World Bank under the Caribbean Regional Communications Infrastructure Program (CARCIP). The development objective of CARCIP is to increase access to regional broadband networks and advance the development of an ICT-enabled services industry in the Caribbean Region.
The National Broadband Project is being implemented in two parts.
1. Provision, maintenance and operation of a Government Wide Area Network (GWAN) and IP PBX. This includes:
A dedicated fibre-based network infrastructure for approximately 220 Government buildings from Fancy to Union Island.
Integration to the existing Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines (GoSVG) GOVNET Fibre network with the GWAN
Implementation of a new IP telephony system for the GoSVG and an Emergency 911.
2. Installation, maintenance and operation of an Undersea Cable System which includes the laying of submarine cable and connection to cable landing stations in:
Arnos Vale, Owia and Chateaubelair
Bequia
Mustique
Canouan
Union Island with connections to Carriacou and Grenada.
The National Broadband Project commenced in July, 2018 and is expected to be completed by January 31, 2020.
